NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Florida Building Commission has received the petition for declaratory statement from National Home Service Contract Association. The petition seeks the agency’s opinion as to the applicability of section R501.7, Florida Building Code, Building (2017) as it applies to the petitioner.

Petitioner seeks clarification about whether the Florida Building Code requires an entire HVAC system to be replaced and brought up to current SEER rating requirements when only part of it is otherwise non-functioning, and whether a compatible indoor evaporator coil must be replaced when an outdoor condenser/compressor unit is being replaced and upgraded to a higher SEER rating.
