The Department of Education hereby gives notice:
On March 11, 2017, the Office of the Clerk for the Department of Education, received a petition for a waiver from subparagraph 6A-4.0021(6)(c)(7), F.A.C., Florida Teacher Certification Examinations (FTCE). The petition, dated March 11, 2017, requests a waiver permitting the Petitioner to use a test reader for certain portions of the FTCE General Knowledge Examination. The petitioner is one Courtney Wheeler, who is a Florida resident.
Notice of the petition was published in Vol. 43, No. 50, F.A.R, on March 14, 2017. The Order on this petition was signed and approved on April 3, 2017. After a complete review of the petition, the Department finds that the rule, as applied, creates a substantial hardship for Petitioner. The Department further finds that Petitioner’s proposed alternative would adequately comply with the concerns and purpose set forth by the rule’s underlying statute. Petitioner shall strictly adhere to the operating procedures outlined and adopted by the Order.
