  • The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) announces a public meeting to which all persons are invited.

    DATE AND TIME: Thursday, May 17, 2012, 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

    PLACE: Eau Gallie First Baptist Church, 1501 West Eau Gallie Boulevard, Melbourne, FL 32935

    GENERAL SUBJECT MATTER TO BE CONSIDERED: Financial Management No. 241241-1-52-01.

    Project Description: The project consists of extending Apollo Boulevard across the Eau Gallie River with a low level bridge. The project also consists of widening Apollo Boulevard from a two lane undivided rural roadway to a four lane urban roadway. The proposed typical section at Sarno Road, heading north on Apollo Boulevard, is a four lane undivided urban section, with 11-foot wide travel lanes with curb and gutters, 4-foot wide bike lanes and 5-foot wide sidewalks. Along the Hidden Harbor residential development, the proposed typical section is a four lane divided roadway with 11-foot wide travel lanes, raised medians (pedestrian refuge area), 4-foot wide bike lanes and 5-foot wide sidewalks. Intersection improvements to Commodore Boulevard and Eau Gallie Boulevard will also be constructed.

    The meeting will be conducted in a Public Information Meeting format; a formal presentation is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. A powerpoint presentation of the proposed improvements will run continuously after the formal presentation, along with display boards to present the final design. Participants are welcome to attend anytime between 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. FDOT representatives will be available to discuss the project, answer questions and receive comments.

    A flyer and comment form will be distributed at the meeting.
