    PURPOSE AND EFFECT: This amendment revises Next Generation Sunshine State Standards for Science only by the addition of the Computer Science body of knowledge and to adopt the Access Points to the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards for Social Studies. The effect will be the proposed adoption of the Computer Science body of knowledge to the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards for Science and the adoption of the Access Points to the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards for Social Studies.

    SUMMARY: Next Generation Sunshine State Standards for Science are being revised only to include the Computer Science body of knowledge. The Access Points to Next Generation Sunshine State Standards for Social Studies are being adopted. Access Points are intended for use only in the instruction of students with significant cognitive disabilities.

    SUMMARY OF STATEMENT OF ESTIMATED REGULATORY COSTS AND LEGISLATIVE RATIFICATION: The Agency has determined that this will not have an adverse impact on small business or likely increase directly or indirectly regulatory costs in excess of $200,000 in the aggregate within one year after the implementation of the rule. A SERC has not been prepared by the Agency.

    The Agency has determined that the proposed rule is not expected to require legislative ratification based on the statement of estimated regulatory costs or if no SERC is required, the information expressly relied upon and described herein: The proposed rule does not impose any direct fees or associated costs. 1) no requirement for SERC was triggered under Section 120.541(1), F.S., and 2) based on past experiences with rules of this nature, the adverse impact or regulatory cost, if any, do not exceed nor would be expected to exceed any one of the economic analysis criteria set forth in Section 120.541(2)(a), F.S.

    Any person who wishes to provide information regarding a statement of estimated regulatory costs, or provide a proposal for a lower cost regulatory alternative must do so in writing within 21 days of this notice.

    6A-1.09401 Student Performance Standards.

    (1) Student Performance Standards in Florida are defined as the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards and establish the core content of the curricula to be taught and specify the core content knowledge and skills that K-12 public school students are expected to acquire. The Next Generation Sunshine State Standards are rigorous and reflect the knowledge and skills students need for success in college and careers. The standards and benchmarks describe what students should know and be able to do at grade level progression for kindergarten to grade 8 and in grade bands for grade levels 9-12. The access points contained in the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards provide access to the general education curriculum for students with significant cognitive disabilities. These standards, benchmarks, and access points are contained in the following publications which are hereby incorporated by reference and made a part of this rule.
