    61C-5.025: Hydraulic Supply Shut-off Valves

    NOTICE OF CHANGE

    Notice is hereby given that the following changes have been made to the proposed rule in accordance with subparagraph 120.54(3)(d)1., F.S., published in Vol. 38, No. 11, March 16, 2012 issue of the Florida Administrative Weekly.

    61C-5.025 Hydraulic Supply Shut-off Valves.

    Regardless of other codes adopted within this rule chapter, Hhydraulic supply shut-off valves known as “knock-style valves” do not comply with the safety requirements in ASME A17.1 and ASME A17.3, as adopted in Rule 61C-5.001, F.A.C., and referenced in the Florida Building Code are prohibited from use and must be replaced prior to obtaining a renewal certificate of operation. The division hereby determines that any elevator containing this type of valve is in violation of the Florida Building Code. Certified elevator inspectors must cite this violation and elevator owners must correct the violation to obtain a current satisfactory inspection.
