    RULE NO.:RULE TITLE:

6M-8.604Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) Curriculum Approval Process

PURPOSE AND EFFECT: The purpose of the rule revision is to adopt the revised criteria and process that the Office of Early Learning will follow to begin a new VPK curriculum approval process that will update the current list of approved curricula and ensure the approved curricula used by Providers on Probation aligns with recently revised Early Learning and Developmental Standards: Four Years Old to Kindergarten.

SUMMARY: This rule establishes the criteria and process for Office of Early Learning to approve curriculum which may be utilized by providers on probation.

SUMMARY OF STATEMENT OF ESTIMATED REGULATORY COSTS AND LEGISLATIVE RATIFICATION:

The Agency has determined that this will not have an adverse impact on small business or likely increase directly or indirectly regulatory costs in excess of $200,000 in the aggregate within one year after the implementation of the rule. A SERC has not been prepared by the Agency.

The Agency has determined that the proposed rule is not expected to require legislative ratification based on the statement of estimated regulatory costs or if no SERC is required, the information expressly relied upon and described herein: the economic analysis by the Office of the proposed rule amendments determined that a Statement of Estimated Regulatory Costs was not necessary nor will require legislative ratification as the rule amendments impose no adverse economic impact nor additional fees or costs on small business as some of the amendments are technical support and others increase the flexibility for compliance.

Any person who wishes to provide information regarding a statement of estimated regulatory costs, or provide a proposal for a lower cost regulatory alternative must do so in writing within 21 days of this notice.
