GENERAL SUBJECT MATTER TO BE CONSIDERED: Universal Insurance Company of North America has requested an average statewide rate increase in excess of 40% for homeowners insurance. The requested rate increase was not uniform and some areas are subject to a higher rate increase. Florida law allows the Office of Insurance Regulation to hold a public hearing for any purpose within the scope of the Insurance Code deemed to be necessary.
