PROJECT NAME: FLORIDA CLEAN ENERGY GRANTS PROGRAM
On February 17, 2009, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) was enacted. As a result of this new law, the State of Florida was allocated $126,089,000 in economic stimulus funds for its State Energy Program (SEP). This funding has been allocated to the Florida Energy and Climate Commission (FECC) from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). Of the total amount, the FECC will use $10,000,000 for the creation of the Florida Clean Energy Grant Program. This competitive grant program is intended to fund specified energy efficiency and renewable energy projects and activities in Florida. Eligible applicants under this program include Florida state and local governments who did not receive a direct allocation of funds from the DOE for the Energy Efficiency Conservation Block Grant Program, Florida school districts, public universities and colleges in Florida, Florida Constitutional Officers, independent special districts, not-for-profit organizations, existing Florida farms and farm operations, and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
