NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Board of Massage Therapy has issued an order disposing of the petition for declaratory statement filed by Elena Gournelos on November 21, 2017. The following is a summary of the agency's disposition of the petition:

The Notice of Petition for Declaratory Statement was published in Volume 43, No. 227, of the November 27, 2017, Florida Administrative Register. The petition seeks a declaratory statement from the Board as to whether myofascial release of the soft tissues of the pelvic floor is within the scope of her practice as a massage therapist. The Board’s Order, filed on May 21, 2018, founds that the petition filed in this cause is in substantial compliance with the provisions of Section 120.565, F.S., and Rule 28-105, F.A.C., and that under the specific facts of the petition, myofascial release of the pelvic floor is not within the scope of Petitioner’s practice as a massage therapist.
