The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) announces a hearing to which all persons are invited.

    DATE AND TIME: Tuesday, June 19, 2018, 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

PLACE: Clermont Arts & Recreation Center, 3700 South Highway 27, Clermont, FL 34711

GENERAL SUBJECT MATTER TO BE CONSIDERED: A public hearing is being held regarding plans to improve safety in the area of U.S. 27 at the intersection of Weston Hills Boulevard/Holly Grove Boulevard.

The project addresses operational and safety concerns in the area by converting the full median opening to a bi-directional median opening. Left turns from U.S. 27 onto Weston Hills Boulevard and Holly Grove Boulevard will still be permitted, and sight lines will be improved due to the lack of vehicles stacking in the median. Traffic entering U.S. 27 from both of the side streets will be converted to a right turn only lane. These modifications reduce the number of conflict points at the intersection, which improves safety.

The public hearing will be 5:00 p.m.7:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, at the Clermont Arts & Recreation Center located at 3700 South Highway 27, Clermont, FL 34711. The meeting will begin as an open house where staff will be available to discuss the project and answer questions. A presentation will begin at 6:00 p.m., followed by public comments.

Participants may provide verbal comments directly to a court reporter before and after the formal presentation. Written comments can be submitted at the hearing, sent by mail to Dave Mixon, FDOT District Five Traffic Operations, 719 S. Woodland Boulevard, M.S. #562, DeLand, FL 32720, or emailed to Dave.Mixon@dot.state.fl.us, no later than June 29, 2018. All comments written and oral will become part of the project’s public record.

The draft project documents and other information will be available for public review from May 29 to June 29, 2018 at the Cagan Crossings Community Library, 16729 Cagan Oaks, Clermont, FL 34714.

Public participation is solicited without regard to race, color, national origin, age, sex, religion, disability or family status.
