NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Board of Nursing has issued an order disposing of the petition for declaratory statement filed by Michelle Percival on November 15, 2018. The following is a summary of the agency's disposition of the petition: The Notice of Petition for Declaratory Statement was published in Vol. 44, No. 232, of November 30, 2018 in the Florida Administrative Register. The Petitioner sought a Declaratory Statement from the Board with regards to whether it is within the scope of practice of a registered nurse (RN) as defined in subsection 464.003(20) F.S., to administer low-dose ketamine to patients in a hospital for treatment of treatment resistant depression. The Board considered the instant Petition at a duly-notice meeting on February 7, 2019 in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida. The Board’s Order, filed on April 23, 2019, finds that ketamine by intravenous administration is not approved for the use of the treatment of treatment resistant depression and therefore, not within the scope of practice of registered nursing to administer intravenous ketamine.
