    St. Johns River Water Management District

    The Central Florida Water Initiative (CFWI) is a collaborative effort for water resource planning, development and management among the Florida Department of Environmental Protection; the St. Johns River, South Florida and Southwest Florida water management districts; the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services; and water supply utilities. The CFWI area includes Seminole, Orange, Osceola and Polk counties and southern Lake County. A regional water supply plan will be developed for the area. The plan will ensure the protection of water resources and related natural systems and identify sustainable water supplies for all water uses in the Initiative area through 2035. The Central Florida Water Initiative Regional Water Supply Plan technical team announces a public meeting to which all persons are invited.

    DATE AND TIME: Thursday, June 28, 2012, 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

    GENERAL SUBJECT MATTER TO BE CONSIDERED: The Central Florida Water Initiative Regional Water Supply Plan technical team will hold a public meeting to provide information on the development of a regional water supply plan for central Florida, including Seminole, Orange, Osceola and Polk counties and southern Lake County. The meeting will be an informal, open house format from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. No formal presentation will be given. Information about the various components of the water supply plan will be on display and technical staff will be available throughout the meeting to provide details on the development process and to answer questions, address individual concerns and accept public input. Information will be available on the development of population and water demand projections; water conservation actions; water supply development and water resource development potential project options; minimum flows and levels; hydrological analysis; environmental assessments; and data gathering and analysis. NOTE: One or more Governing Board members from the St. Johns River, South Florida and Southwest Florida water management districts may attend and participate in the meeting.
