PURPOSE AND EFFECT: The purpose of the changes to Rule 69A-37.065, F.A.C., are to update the fire investigator training program as provided in Sections 633.406(2) and 633.432(4), Florida Statutes. The Florida State Fire College is required to assist the state and county, municipal, and other local governments of this state and their agencies and officers in their investigation and determination of the causes of fires. The Florida State Fire College accomplishes this by providing certified firefighters, certified law enforcement officers, and certified firesafety inspectors with needful professional instruction and training on the subject of fire investigation. The proposed rule updates the current advanced training program designed for individuals having fire investigation responsibilities. This program is based on the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1033, “Standard for Professional Qualifications for Fire Investigators.” The purpose of the changes to Rule 69A-37.039, F.A.C., are to adopt the forms necessary to implement the changes being made in Rule 69A-37.065, F.A.C.
