    Application for Appointment to Board of Funeral, Cemetery and Consumer Services

    The Board of Funeral, Cemetery, and Consumer Services is created by s. 497.101, Florida Statutes, and, in partnership with the Department of Financial Services, implements regulation of the deathcare industry in Florida under Chapter 497. The Board consists of 10 persons; the criteria for appointment are specified at s. 497.101. Pursuant to s. 497.101, when a vacancy on the Board occurs, the Chief Financial Officer of the State (Jeff Atwater) nominates 3 persons to the Governor, and the Governor selects from among the CFO's nominees.

    The current term of appointment of the following members of the Board of Funeral, Cemetery, and Consumer Services, is scheduled to expire on 9-30-2013:

    Joseph “Jody” Brandenburg

    Lewis “Lew” Hall, Jr

    Nancy Hubbell

    Col. Don. Stiegman

    Gail Thomas-DeWitt

    Each member whose term is expiring may seek re-appointment, but even if they do, pursuant to section 497.101, Florida Statutes, all applicants for the expiring positions will be considered.

    Persons interested in applying for appointment to the Board of Funeral, Cemetery, and Consumer Services, are asked to contact Ms. LaTonya Bryant, of the Department of Financial Services, Division of Funeral, Cemetery, and Consumer Services, and request an application package.
