    NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on May 29, 2014, the Department of Business and Professional Regulation, Division of Hotels and Restaurants, Bureau of Elevator Safety, received a petition for LeMeridien Hotel. Petitioner seeks a variance of the requirements of ASME A17.1b 2009, Section 2.7.3.2.2, as adopted by subsection 61C-5.001(1), Florida Administrative Code, which states “Where the passage is over a roof having a slope exceeding 15 degrees from the horizontal, or over a roof where there is no parapet or guardrail at least 1.070 mm (42 in.) high around the roof or passageway, a permanent, unobstructed and substantial walkway not less than 600 mm (24 in.) wide, equipped on the side sloping away from the walk with a railing conforming to 2.10.2.1, 2.10.2.2, and 2.10.2.3, shall be provided from the building exit door at the roof level to the means of access.” which poses a significant economic/financial hardship.
