    The Florida Department of Transportation announces a public meeting to which all persons are invited.

    GENERAL SUBJECT MATTER TO BE CONSIDERED: University Drive and Oakland Park Boulevard Mobility Improvements on SR 816/Oakland Park Boulevard, from SR 817/University Drive to SR 5/U.S. 1, and on SR 817/University Drive, from north of NW 57th Street to Sunrise Lakes Boulevard, in Broward County, Florida.

    The project improvements on SR 817/University Drive consist of widening and restriping to accommodate bicycle lanes, installing sidewalks in each direction and upgrading signalization, signage and pavement markings. There will also be pedestrian lighting and drainage upgrades. Project improvements on SR 816/Oakland Park Boulevard include installing new bus shelters and upgrading signalization to provide traffic signal priority for public transit buses at 10 intersections.

    Construction began in May 2019 and is estimated to be completed in fall 2020. The estimated construction cost is $6.8 million.

    During the informal open house, attendees will have the opportunity to review roadway improvements, construction plans and traffic control plans. FDOT staff and consultant staff members will be available to discuss the project and answer questions.
