    RULE NO.: RULE TITLE:

62-302.531: Numeric Interpretations of Narrative Nutrient Criteria

GENERAL SUBJECT MATTER TO BE CONSIDERED: The Department is establishing the existing nutrient Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs) for the Upper Wakulla River, Munson Slough above Lake Munson, Lake Munson, Silver Springs, the Silver Springs Group, the Upper Silver River, Curlew Creek Tidal Segment, and McKay Creek Tidal Segment in subsections 62-304.300(2), (3) and (5), 62-304.500(20), and 62-304.645(13)-(14), F.A.C., as site specific numeric interpretations of the narrative nutrient criterion set forth in paragraph 62-302.530(47)(b), F.A.C., upon paragraph 62-302.531(2)(a), F.A.C., becoming effective. Currently there are no numeric nutrient criteria in Chapter 62-302, F.A.C., for the marine segments of these waters. For the freshwater segments, the site specific numeric interpretation as set forth in the TMDLs will supersede the otherwise applicable numeric nutrient criteria in paragraphs 62-302.531(2)(b)-(c), F.A.C. The Department is accepting public comment and will hold a public meeting, if requested, on the establishment of these nutrient TMDLs as site specific interpretations pursuant to paragraph 62-302.531(2)(a), F.A.C.

The supporting documents for the TMDLs for these waters are on the Department’s TMDL website (http://www.dep.state.fl.us/water/tmdl/index.htm) and will be provided upon request to interested parties by mail or via email distribution. The Department will accept written comments on the establishment of these existing nutrient TMDLs as site specific interpretations of the narrative nutrient criterion, through July 22, 2013. Written comments should be directed to: Eric Shaw, Standards and Assessments Section, Florida Department of Environmental Protection, 2600 Blair Stone Road, Mail Station 6511, Tallahassee, Florida 32399-2400, telephone (850)245-8429, email Eric.Shaw@dep.state.fl.us.
