PURPOSE AND EFFECT: The Department is proposing amendments to Chapter 62-550, F.A.C., “Drinking Water Standards, Monitoring and Reporting," based on subsection 403.064(18), F.S., which authorized the Department to initiate rulemaking to implement the recommendations of the Potable Reuse Commission’s 2020 report “Advancing Potable Reuse in Florida: Framework for the Implementation of Potable Reuse in Florida.”
SUBJECT AREA TO BE ADDRESSED: Chapter 62-550, F.A.C., regulates the primary and secondary drinking water standards, establishes monitoring and reporting requirements, and contains requirements for public water systems (PWS) using either surface water or ground water as source waters. The proposed revisions to Rule 62- 550.821, F.A.C., will correct existing regulatory references and the applicability of subpart H system requirements to public water systems receiving advanced treated water. The addition of Rule 62-550.305, F.A.C., will establish requirements for the use of advanced treated water as a new type of water source for PWSs.
