NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Florida Building Commission has issued an order disposing of the petition for declaratory statement filed by Finfrock DMC on February 26, 2019. The following is a summary of the agency's disposition of the petition: Petitioner requested an answer to the following question based upon the project described within its petition: does the code classify an access panel as a “smoke and draft control door” which would require it to be rated per UL 1784? On June 18, 2019, the Commission provided the following answer: Yes. Pursuant to Section 716.5.3.1, Florida Building Code, Building, 6th Edition (2017), the access panel in question must meet the requirements for a smoke and draft control door assembly tested in accordance with UL 1784.
