Notice of Declaratory Statement

The Board of Nursing hereby gives notice that on April 1, 2019, an Order was filed on the Petition for Declaratory Statement. The Petition was filed by Mease Countryside Hospital, on December 22, 2018, seeking a Declaratory Statement from the Board with regards to whether it is within the scope of practice of a registered nurse to instill low dose thrombolytics into an existing chest tube for treatment of infections within the pleural fluid that are not responsive to antibiotics and/or are not draining effectively. The Notice of Petition for Declaratory Statement was published in Vol. 45, No. 11, on January 16, 2019, in the Florida Administrative Register.
The Board, at its meeting held on December 6, 2018, voted to decline to respond to Petition as it was not properly presented.
