    PURPOSE AND EFFECT: Section 429.256(2), Florida Statutes, requires an unlicensed person assisting residents in an assisted living facility with the self-administration of medication to read the label of the prescription “in the presence of the resident.” Rule 58A-5.0185, F.A.C., which deals with medication practices in assisted living facilities, does not currently address this statutory requirement. The Department is proposing to amend Rule 58A-5.0185 to implement or interpret this requirement.
