NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on July 17, 2014, the Department of Law Enforcement Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission received a petition for a temporary waiver of paragraph 11B-27.002(4)(a), F.A.C., from Andrew Michael Diaz. The Petitioner wishes to temporarily waive for 180 days that portion of the rule that states within four years of the beginning date of a Commission-approved Basic Recruit Training Program, an individual shall successfully complete the program, achieve a passing score on the applicable State Officer Certification Examination, and gain employment, and certification as an officer. Petitioner states that out-of-state family obligations prevented him from actively processing employment applications after graduating from the Law Enforcement Academy at Seminole State College in 2010. Petitioner states that he has completed all phases of the application and testing processes with the Belle Isle Police Department and was set to be sworn in on June 23, 2014 believing his certification would not lapse until June 30, 2014. Petitioner's certification lapsed on June 15, 2014. Chief Thomas Jackson, Belle Isle Police Department, provided documentation stating that Petitioner would have been sworn in on June 13, 2014; however, scheduling conflicts prevented that from occurring and was rescheduled for June23, 2014.
