The purpose and effect of this rule is to adopt a form for the Official Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (OCVI) required by Section 828.29, F.S., which is required to be provided by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

    5C-27.001: OCVI for Sale of Dog or Cat
    PURPOSE AND EFFECT: The purpose and effect of this rule is to adopt a form for the Official Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (OCVI) required by Section 828.29, F.S., which is required to be provided by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
    SUMMARY: Section 828.29, F.S., mandates that an OCVI must be executed in connection with each dog or cat offered for sale in Florida. This statute sets forth the specific requirements and information for the examining veterinarian that must be included in the OCVI. This statute further provides that the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services shall supply the official intrastate certificate of veterinarian inspection form. This rule is being promulgated to adopt the OCVI as a form that the Department is required to supply.
    SUMMARY OF STATEMENT OF ESTIMATED REGULATORY COSTS: No Statement of Estimated Regulatory Cost was prepared.
    Any person who wishes to provide information regarding a statement of estimated regulatory costs, or provide a proposal for a lower cost regulatory alternative must do so in writing within 21 days of this notice.

    For purposes of Section 828.29, F.S., the veterinarian who executes an official intrastate certificate of veterinary inspection shall utilize form DACS-09085, Official Certificate of Veterinary Inspection For Intrastate Sale Of Dog Or Cat, Rev. 07/07, hereby incorporated by reference. Copies may be obtained from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Division of Animal Industry, 407 South Calhoun Street, Room 323, Mayo Building, Tallahassee, Florida 32399-0800.
