On 7/2/2020, the Florida Office of Financial Regulation (Consumer Finance) received a Petition for Declaratory Statement from IMVU, Inc. The petitioner seeks a declaratory statement from the Office whether its proposed business model (to offer a blockchain-based virtual currency that can only be used on Petitioner's platform which is a software application that people use to connect, socialize, interact in virtual venues, play games, explore their creativity with free-to-use tools, and purchase virtual goods) falls under the Florida Money Transmitter Statute, Chapter 560, Florida Statutes.
