11B-27.002:Certification, Employment or Appointment, Reactivation, and Terminating Employment or Appointment of Officers
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on July 30, 2014, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission received a petition for a temporary waiver of paragraph 11B-27.002(4)(a), F.A.C., from Michael Dean Sutherland, II. The petitioner wishes to temporarily waive for 180 days that portion of the rule that states within four years of the beginning date of a Commission-approved Basic Recruit Training Program, an individual shall successfully complete the program, achieve a passing score on the applicable State Officer Certification Examination, and gain employment, and certification as an officer. Petitioner states that he has successfully completed basic law enforcement which began on October 18, 2010. Petitioner states that shoulder surgery prevented him from participating in physical agility testing for employment and that a 180 day waiver of the rule will allow him to complete the employment process with the City of West Palm Beach, Florida.
