DATE AND TIME: Thursday, August 25, 2016, 6:00 p.m., Open house; 7:00 p.m., Formal presentation

PLACE: University of Florida IFAS Agriculture Research - Southwest Florida Research & Education Center (SWFREC), 2685 SR 29 North, Immokalee, Florida 34142

GENERAL SUBJECT MATTER TO BE CONSIDERED: The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District One, is holding a public hearing regarding proposed changes to the design of SR 82 from Gator Slough Lane to SR 29.

Beginning at 6 p.m., participants can view the draft design plans, discuss the project, and provide comments to FDOT representatives. The formal public hearing begins at 7:00 p.m. FDOT encourages the public to attend.

Draft project reports and design plans will be available for review from Thursday, August 4, 2016, through Tuesday, September 6, 2016, at the University of Florida IFAS Agriculture Research - Southwest Florida Research & Education Center (SWFREC), located at 2685 SR 29 North, Immokalee, Florida 34142. Facility hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The current design has resulted in various changes from what was shown in the approved Project Development and Environment (PD&E) study. This project will widen SR 82 from a two-lane undivided roadway to an interim four-lane divided roadway while allowing for a future six-lane roadway and intersection improvements at the SR 82/SR 29 intersection. One intersection improvement under consideration involves the addition of a roundabout with associated turn lanes. Other improvements will include replacing the five-foot sidewalk along the south side of SR 82 with a 10-foot multi-use trail. Storm water runoff will be collected in roadside swales and directed to one regional offsite storm water pond.

Right-of-way acquisition will be required for the proposed roadway and drainage improvements. Right-of-way acquisition for this segment is funded for FDOT’s fiscal year 2016/2017. Construction is not funded at this time.

FDOT solicits public participation without regard to race, color, national origin, age, sex, religion, disability, or family status.
