    NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Florida Building Commission has issued an order disposing of the petition for declaratory statement filed by Liebl & Barrow Engineering, Inc. on April 11, 2018. The following is a summary of the agency’s disposition of the petition:

    Petitioner sought clarification about the application of section 110.8.6, Florida Building Code, Building, 6th Edition (2017), as it pertains to who may perform threshold inspections. Petitioner requested an answer to the following question, based upon the project described within its petition: Can a building department or building official require the Special Inspector’s duly Authorized Representative to be licensed or certified under Part XII of Chapter 468 for items to be inspected as part of a structural inspection plan issued in accordance with subsection 553.79(5), Florida Statutes? On July 27, 2018, the Commission provided the following answer: the provisions of section 110.8.6, Florida Building Code, Building, 6th Edition (2017), apply only to the inspection of minimum structural requirements of the Florida Building Code. Accordingly, they do not apply to the inspections required by subsection 553.79(5), Florida Statutes (2017).
