    NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Florida Building Commission has issued an order disposing of the petition for declaratory statement filed by Diversified Window Solutions, Inc. on February 22, 2018. The following is a summary of the agency's disposition of the petition:

    Petitioner requested an answer to the following questions, based upon the project described within its petition: 1. Does the hazardous location designation apply to exterior doors only adjacent to exterior windows? 2. Does the hazardous location designation apply to interior doors adjacent to exterior windows? On July 27, 2018, the Commission provided the following answers: In response to Petitioner’s question 1, the answer is no, the general hazardous location requirements of section 2406.4.2, Florida Building Code, Building, 6th Edition (2017), apply to glass adjacent to both exterior and interior doors. In response to Petitioner’s question 2, the answer is yes, the general hazardous location requirements of section 2406.4.2, Florida Building Code, Building, 6th Edition (2017), apply to glass adjacent to interior doors. However, within dwelling units and pursuant to Exception 4 of section 2406.4.2, the hazardous location requirements of section 2406.4.2 do not apply to glazing adjacent to interior doors where the glazing is in walls on the latch side of, and perpendicular to, the plane of the door in a closed position.
