NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on August 20, 2013, the Department of Business and Professional Regulation, Division of Hotels and Restaurants, Bureau of Elevator Safety, received a petition for Islander Condominium Association, Inc. Petitioner seeks an emergency variance of the requirements of ASME A17.3, Section 3.11.3, 4.7.8, 3.11.1, 3.10.4, 3.10.3, 3.9.1, 3.7.4, 3.4.6, 3.4.5, 3.3.2, 2.7.4, 2.2.3 and A17.1a 1972, Section 207.3, as adopted by subsection 61C-5.001(1), Florida Administrative Code that requires upgrading the elevators with firefighters’ emergency operations, emergency operations and signaling devices, car emergency signaling devices, electrical protective devices, top-of-car operating devices, normal terminal stopping devices, capacity plate, protection of light bulbs and tubes, car illumination, platform guards, restricted opening of hoistway doors and/or car doors on passenger elevators, lighting and capacity and data plates which poses a significant economic/financial hardship.
