RULE NO.:RULE TITLE:
11B-35.003Basic Recruit Training Programs for Law Enforcement, Correctional, and Correctional Probation Auxiliary Training
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on August 10, 2016, the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission received a petition for a temporary waiver of subsection 11B-35.003(4), F.A.C., from Thomas G. Bishop. The Petitioner wishes to temporarily waive that portion of the rule that states: Commission-approved Basic Recruit Training High-Liability Courses instructed at a Commission-certified training school shall be recognized by the Commission for applicants requesting certification as a law enforcement, correctional, or correctional probation officer, if the applicant has completed training within the past four years pursuant to subsection 11B-35.002(2), F.A.C. Recognition of completed Basic Recruit Training High-Liability Courses shall comply with paragraph 11B-35.0023(2)(d), F.A.C. Mr. Bishop states that he successfully completed Auxiliary Law Enforcement Basic Recruit Training in 2011 and has been active with the Florida Highway Patrol since that time contributing over 1000 hours per year including all required annual training. Mr Bishop is requesting that his prior training in 2011 and all subsequent requiring annual training with Florida Highway Patrol Auxilliary be recognized by the Commission. Petitioner states that the hardship created is that the need to repeat subjects in which he is already proficient and current creates a longer training commitment and an increased financial expense. Petitioner requests that the waiver be granted through December 2017 so that he can complete his training requirements pursuant to the Rule.
