    33-602.210 Use of Force.

    (1) through (8) No change.

    (9) Use of Chemical Agents. All chemical agents shall be used with caution and in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.

    (a) through (k) No change.

    (l) Issuance and use of chemical agents:

    1. No change.

    2. An MK-9 sized canister or equivalent OC dispenser shall may be issued to correctional officers who have received appropriate training, are in possession of a valid certification, and who are assigned to internal security posts, recreation fields, shift supervisor posts, or designated as special response team members within an institution, including work camps. These officers are authorized to administer chemical agents during reactionary disturbance incidents that involve multiple inmates housed in locations where multiple inmates are generally present, such as open bay dorms, dining halls, recreation fields, canteens, and meal lines. This option shall only be exercised in response to mass disturbance critical incidents and as necessary to restore control, stability, or disciplinary order and shall normally not be used indoors.
