Notice is hereby given that the Florida Department of Health (Department) has placed a moratorium on applications for WIC vendor authorization consistent with 7 CFR §246.12(g)(9) setting its baseline for implementation of WIC electronic benefits transfer (EBT). The State has limited the periods for application and shall accept applications at least once every three years until the moratorium has been lifted. The last major application cycle was completed January 2012. The next application period will begin no later than January 2015. The Department will begin accepting applications after statewide WIC-EBT implementation. At that time stores applying for WIC vendor authorization will be required to demonstrate the ability to accept WIC-EBT transactions and will also be subject to competitive price and other appropriate criteria.
