PURPOSE AND EFFECT: To protect student privacy when school districts contract with third parties to provide educational technology services. This rule will strengthen the privacy and rights of students and safeguard their educational record in accordance with state and federal law. Other general amendments designed to strengthen privacy of student records will also be considered.

SUBJECT AREA TO BE ADDRESSED: Privacy and rights of students’ educational records when using third-party technology services.
