    The Department of Economic Opportunity announces a hearing to which all persons are invited.

    DATE AND TIME: September 24, 2013, 3:00 p.m.

    PLACE: Florida Department of Health, 4025 Esplanade Way, Room 301, Tallahassee, FL.

    GENERAL SUBJECT MATTER TO BE CONSIDERED: Annual Performance Report for HUD Funded Programs.

    In July 2013, the Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO), in cooperation with other agencies, began preparation of the Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER)/Performance and Evaluation Report (PER) for Federal Fiscal Year 2012, as required by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Performance reports must be prepared in accordance with the instructions found in 24 CFR 91.520.

    The HUD-funded programs covered in the report are the Florida Small Cities Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG) administered by the Department of Economic Opportunity, the Emergency Solutions Grant Program (ESG) administered by the Department of Children and Families, the Housing Opportunities for Persons With AIDS Program (HOPWA) administered by the Department of Health, and the Home Investment Partnership Program (HOME) administered by the Florida Housing Finance Corporation. This annual report, prepared according to HUD guidelines, consists of detailed information on grants made to eligible local governments or other awards to eligible entities.

    On September 9, 2013, the 15-day comment period will begin and a copy of the draft will be posted to the Department’s website at:

    The deadline for the consideration of written comments and/or suggestions is 5:00 p.m. (EDT) on September 24, 2013; they may be addressed to Ginger Waters and Penny Bos with the Department of Economic Opportunity at the above address. Interested citizens may also offer oral comments at the public hearing on September 24, 2013.
