    GENERAL SUBJECT MATTER TO BE CONSIDERED: FDOT is developing the design for two repaving projects to improve the roadway along State Road 5/Overseas Highway in Monroe County. The limits for one of the proposed projects extend from Jerome Avenue (Mile Marker 81.4) to Whale Harbor Channel (Mile Marker 84.0). The limits for the other project extend from Whale Harbor Channel (Mile Marker 84.0) to the entrance of Smugglers Cove (Mile Marker 85.6). Both projects are in the Village of Islamorada.
    The proposed work for this project includes repaving the existing roadway to extend the life of the road, changing the existing typical section to include bicycle lanes, and reworking the existing northbound shoulder area along the project corridor to create a 10-foot wide paved shoulder that can be utilized during as a through lane during emergency evacuations. New signs, pavement markings and minor drainage improvements will also be included.
