12B-8.001: Premium Tax; Rate and Computation
PURPOSE AND EFFECT: Section 3, Chapter 2009-108, L.O.F., expands the tax credit for contributions to nonprofit scholarship funding organizations to the insurance premium tax. The purpose of the proposed amendments to Rule 12B-8.001, F.A.C. (Premium Tax; Rate and Computation), is to: (1) include provisions for the credit for contributions to a nonprofit scholarship funding organizations in the list of credits against the insurance premium tax; (2) provide that contributions to nonprofit scholarship funding organizations are not payments of estimated tax or installment payments; and (3) provide that the provisions of Section 220.187, F.S., and Rule 12C-1.0187, F.A.C., apply to the credit for contributions to a nonprofit scholarship funding organizations.
