    6A-6.03014Exceptional Student Education Eligibility for Students Who Are Visually Impaired

    PURPOSE AND EFFECT: To update the language and expand the process for making eligibility determinations for those students with a visual impairment including blindness to align with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. Additionally, language within the medical criteria section has been broadened to include students with a vision impairment, including blindness. A visual impairment must be identified regardless of significance or severity provided that such impairment, even with correction, adversely affects student’s current and future education services.
