PURPOSE AND EFFECT: The rules implement section 985.682(4), Florida Statutes, which requires the Department to establish a procedure to resolve disputes with local government concerning the siting of juvenile justice facilities.

SUBJECT AREA TO BE ADDRESSED: The rules establish an expedited process for resolving siting disputes, which includes the Department's request for variance, rezoning or special exception, and the commencement of settlement and mediation.
