    PURPOSE AND EFFECT: To provide an additional pathway to certification as a school social worker and to update the requirements for certification. The effect will be that schools will be able to hire more professionals by creating an additional pathway to become certified as a school social worker.

    SUMMARY: Currently, the rule allows professionals one pathway to earn a certification as a school social worker. The proposed rule will create an additional pathway for professionals to become certified as a school social worker. The rule will provide professional credentials to align with the level of mental health services provided in school.

    SUMMARY OF STATEMENT OF ESTIMATED REGULATORY COSTS AND LEGISLATIVE RATIFICATION:

    The Agency has determined that this will not have an adverse impact on small business or likely increase directly or indirectly regulatory costs in excess of $200,000 in the aggregate within one year after the implementation of the rule. A SERC has not been prepared by the Agency.

    The Agency has determined that the proposed rule is not expected to require legislative ratification based on the statement of estimated regulatory costs or if no SERC is required, the information expressly relied upon and described herein: This proposed rule is not expected to have any adverse impact on economic growth, business competitiveness or any other factors listed in s. 120.541(2)(a), F.S., and will not require legislative ratification.

    Any person who wishes to provide information regarding a statement of estimated regulatory costs, or provide a proposal for a lower cost regulatory alternative must do so in writing within 21 days of this notice.

    6A-4.035 Specialization Requirements for Certification in School Social Work Worker (Grades PK-12) – Specialty Class.

    (1) Plan One. A master’s bachelor’s or higher degree with a an undergraduate or graduate major in social work that includes three-hundred (300) hours or more of field placement in a K-12 school setting from a. The program shall be accredited by the National Council on Social Work Education or the institution shall be accredited in accordance with the provisions of Rule rule 6A-4.003, F.A.C., or;

    (2) Plan Two. A master’s or higher degree with a graduate major in social work that includes three-hundred (300) hours or more of field placement with diverse individuals in a community setting other than a prekindergarten, an elementary or a secondary school.
