    64B17-6.001Minimum Standards of Physical Therapy Practice

    NOTICE OF CHANGE

    Notice is hereby given that the following changes have been made to the proposed rule in accordance with subparagraph 120.54(3)(d)1., F.S., published in Vol. 43 No. 42, March 2, 2017 issue of the Florida Administrative Register.

    The changes are in response to action by the Board of Physical Therapy Practice at a duly-noticed public meeting on May 4, 2017, and to written comments submitted by the staff of the Joint Administrative Procedures Committee in a letter dated March 15, 2017. The changes are as follows:

    64B17-6.001 Minimum Standards of Physical Therapy Practice.

    (1) Definitions – For purposes of this rule only, the words and phrases listed below are defined in the following manner:

    (a) through (d) No change.

    (e) Direct Supervision – Supervision of subordinate personnel performing directed actions, while the licensed supervisor is immediately physically available. On-site Supervision means direct supervision.

    (f) through (i) No change.

    (2) No change.

    (3) Physical Therapist Responsibilities. Physical therapists shall:

    (a) through (f) No change.

    (g) When participating in student and/or trainee programs, ensure that the academic programs are accredited or in candidacy by the appropriate accrediting agency recognized by statute, and that the physical therapist provides direct on-site supervision when students are performing patient care activities.

    (h) No change.

    (4) Physical Therapist Assistant Responsibilities. Physical therapist assistants shall:

    (a) through (f) No change.

    (g) When participating in student and/or trainee programs, ensure that the academic programs are accredited or in candidacy by the appropriate accrediting agency recognized by statute, and that the physical therapist assistant provides direct on-site supervision when students are performing patient care activities.

    (5) through (7) No change.
