    6M-8.615   VPK Training Requirements

PURPOSE AND EFFECT: The proposed amendment to the rule will revise training requirements to incorporate the recently updated course that captures child performance standards for children participating in VPK. The Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards: 4 Years old to Kindergarten (2017) were revised to align with the new child performance standards. The updated course now includes a focus on standards and instructional practice to support the learning of 3- and 4-year-olds, as mixed-age classrooms occur. In addition, teacher understanding of the developmental progression of skills from 3-years-old to 4-years old is important to support the instruction of 4-year-olds who may not be at the expected developmental level.
