Purpose:: The purpose of this rule development notice is to address the possible creation of a new rule chapter for spot, as the Commission is considering development of species-specific regulations. The effect of the new rule chapter would be to establish regulations in state waters from the Florida-Georgia border through Miami-Dade County for the management of spot that may include a recreational daily bag and a commercial vessel limit to aid in conservation of spot along the U.S. Atlantic coast.
