PURPOSE AND EFFECT: The Commission is considering amendments to Chapter 68E-1, F.A.C., Marine Turtle Permits and the Marine Turtle Conservation Guidelines. The proposed amendments will clarify and update existing rule language to reflect current procedures for review and approval of applications, add definitions for terms in the existing Rule and clarify criteria and timelines for review and approval of applications. Language is also proposed to address stakeholder concerns on review and approval of requests for research involving threatened or endangered marine turtles. Four workshops are proposed; staff will present the same content at each meeting with opportunities for public comment.
