64B-9.003: Military Spouse Temporary License
PURPOSE AND EFFECT: To update the material incorporated by reference to decrease the background screening fee.
SUMMARY: The rule lowers the cost for background screening for applicants for temporary licenses for spouses of active duty members of the armed forces.
SUMMARY OF STATEMENT OF ESTIMATED REGULATORY COSTS AND LEGISLATIVE RATIFICATION:
The Agency has determined that this will not have an adverse impact on small business or likely increase directly or indirectly regulatory costs in excess of $200,000 in the aggregate within one year after the implementation of the rule. A SERC has not been prepared by the agency.
Any person who wishes to provide information regarding a statement of estimated regulatory costs, or provide a proposal for a lower cost regulatory alternative must do so in writing within 21 days of this notice.

To obtain a temporary license to practice in Florida for 12 months in any health care profession, an eligible spouse of any active duty member of the Armed Forces must submit fingerprints for a criminal history check, hold a valid license in another jurisdiction, establish eligibility to take the appropriate examination and entitlement to full licensure under the appropriate practice act, and otherwise comply with Section 456.024(3), F.S., by submitting a completed application on the incorporated by reference form DH-MQA 1251, 07/12 09/11, at https://www.flrules.org/Gateway/reference.asp?No=Ref-01932 http://www.flrules.org/Gateway/reference.asp?No=Ref-01112, which also may be obtained from the Department at http://doh.state.fl.us/mqa/app_temp_Lic_Military_Spouses.pdf or by writing to the Department of Health, Division of Medical Quality Assurance, 4052 Bald Cypress Way, Bin C-01, Tallahassee, FL 32399.
