Summary


The following is a summary of the proposed revisions to the Trauma Center Standards, DOH Pamphlet 150-9, which is incorporated by reference in Rules 64J-2.011- 2.017, F.A.C., and applicable rules: 1) Adds an additional state required performance outcome indicator for all trauma centers to track the percentage of traumatic C1, C2 and/or C3 spinal cord injury patients who are admitted or transferred to the trauma center ICUs that are eligible for and receive the diaphragm pacer surgery; 2) Reduces the number of indicators the trauma centers must identify and monitor relevant to their respective facility from seven to six; 3) Requires the trauma centers to maintain written policies and procedures for the implementation of the preventive ulcer program standards of care (Sample policies and procedures are provided); and 4. Technical revisions to change the date of the pamphlet and forms, and to comply with statutory language in Section 395.401(2), F.S. The revisions to the rules include technical changes to the date of the DOH Pamphlet 150-9 as referenced in Rules 64J-2.011- 2.017, F.A.C, clarification of the trauma centers’ compliance date of the new standards, and clarification of the process for the approval of trauma centers.
