Subject

This meeting is presented to inform elected officials, public works and stormwater managers, land managers, and the public on the status of the North Indian River Lagoon Basin Management Action Plan (BMAP). The North Indian River Lagoon is the portion of the Indian River Lagoon Basin north of U.S. Highway 192 in Brevard County. The North Indian River Lagoon BMAP is a plan of how to achieve the reductions in total nitrogen and total phosphorus loadings required by the Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs) adopted for the North Indian River Lagoon in 2009. The required reductions in total phosphorus and total nitrogen loadings will improve water quality sufficiently to allow growth of seagrasses to target water depths. The BMAP is a plan of how to achieve the reductions in total nitrogen and total phosphorus loadings required by the Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) adopted for the North Indian River Lagoon. The TMDL adopted in 2009 requires reductions in the loadings of total nitrogen and total phosphorus into the North Indian River Lagoon that will improve water quality sufficiently to allow growth of seagrasses to target water depths.
