This hearing is being held to allow interested persons an opportunity to express their views concerning the location and conceptual design, as well as social, economic, and environmental effects of the proposed improvements to the Tamiami Canal Historic Swing Bridge crossing on N.W. South River Drive between N.W. 32nd Avenue and N.W. 19th Street in Miami Dade County, Florida; Financial Management Number: 416658-1-22-01, Federal Aid Project Number: BRF4-001-B. The proposed action includes: replacing the existing swing bridge with a single leaf bascule bridge carrying four lanes of traffic across the Tamiami Canal; removing the impediment to flow in the canal caused by the piers of the existing bridge; widening N.W. South River Drive from two lanes to four lanes; constructing a 10-ft. wide sidewalk between N.W. 32nd Avenue and N.W. 20th Street; adding left turn lanes on N.W. South River Drive at the intersections of N.W. 32nd Avenue and N.W. 20th Street; and relocating the existing bridge to a site on the South Fork of the Miami River to be used as a pedestrian bridge connecting two City of Miami parks.
