Project Description: Orange Avenue (State Road 527) Corridor Improvements Design Project, Orange County, Florida
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will hold a public hearing for the design of corridor improvements along Orange Avenue from Grant Street to Gore Street in the City of Orlando. The purpose of the project is to resurface the existing pavement. Additional improvements include curb extensions (bulb-outs) to define on-street parking areas, raised medians in certain locations to improve safety and traffic operations, and enhanced pedestrian features in compliance with the current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. The project also includes minor drainage improvements, new signing and marking features, as well as signal upgrades, pedestrian lighting, and decorative crosswalks near the Pulse memorial.
The public hearing will be Tuesday, November 19, 2019, at the Christ Church of Orlando, 2200 S. Orange Ave., Orlando, FL 32806. The hearing will begin as an open house at 5:30 p.m. A formal presentation will begin at 6 p.m., followed by a public comment period. A court reporter will prepare a verbatim transcript of the proceedings. Participants may review design information and discuss the project with FDOT staff during the open house and after the presentation.
