Purpose
To remove the requirement to file complete specifications for each model of school bus chassis and body intended to transport students to public schools of Florida. The rule currently requires a manufacturer, dealer or distributor to file the specifications, including blueprints when requested, with the Deputy Commissioner for Finance and Operations. This requirement is not necessary, as the rule requires the manufacturer, distributor or dealer to file a certified statement that any school bus chassis or body sold meets all safety standards and specification prescribed for school buses for use in Florida. This also clarifies the rule by adding an explicit cross-reference to the rule and statute that establish school bus standards. The effect is to eliminate unnecessary requirements imposed on a school bus manufacturer, distributor or dealer.
