The Upper Ocklawaha Basin Working Group will hold a meeting on December 17 in Leesburg at the Leesburg Community Building. This meeting is open to the public. This is the second five year iteration of the Upper Ocklawaha Basin Management Action Plan. A revised draft of the revised Basin Management Action Plan will be presented at this meeting. The Upper Ocklawaha Basin Working Group was formed to provide a forum for stakeholders to discuss issues related to the basin’s nutrient Total Maximum Daily Loads for the Harris Chain of Lakes, Palatlakaha River, and Lake Apopka. The Upper Ocklawaha Basin Management Action Plan was adopted in 2007 to address nutrient problems in the previously listed waterbodies.
